Lancaster. Not only did the Amish representative forgive the family of the man - and the man - who killed the young girls, but he forgave them the day after the murders, before the girls were buried. Which makes me think that forgiveness is not something these people come to, but, rather, forgiveness is what they anticipate.

I think I'm going to need a new vocabulary word for this sort of forgiveness. Because as far as I can see forgiveness has always been a two way street, a social contract: one apology + one acceptance = forgiveness. a song by Stephanie, recorded at 11:59 AM ![]()
